RICHARD LATHAM

Richard is an award-winning Director of Photography whose unique visual sensibility and aesthetic magic continues to stir and awaken audiences in long and short format. His lighting work is both transformational and imaginative. He has worked all over the world, from Europe, Africa, Asia and the Far East. He has crafted thousands of visually stunning commercials, for luxury car manufacturers, boutique hotels, state of the art airlines, perfumes, fashion brands and he has worked as a camera operator on feature films, like The Kingdom, Fast and Furious, and the Air Up There. He has applied this unique eye, powerful and breath-taking aesthetic sense of framing, color, space, lensing, perspective and movement to documentary story-telling. He is also versatile and resilient able to be infinitely creative in the most challenging locations like Iraq, Nepal during the earthquake, Syria, Indonesia after the Tsunami, and Somalia during the famine. He is able to capture stories in extraordinary times finding beauty in terrible places. He was Director of Photography on the feature film documentary, Learning from Light about the life and vision of the arthitect I.M Pei and Heavens Herds, a feature film doc that was nominated at the Pare Lorentz Awards and won the Best of the Commonwealth films. He has won countless cinematography awards in Cannes, New York, and his short films have been showcased across continents winning awards, praise and attention from the Grand Jury and audiences at many festivals.
